Baron's Reserve Hard Cider

Baron’s Reserve Hard Ciders by Dutch Creek Winery & Taphouse are about balance, and honoring long standing traditions while incorporating new ideas, and paying homage to those that came before us. Our lineup of hard ciders balance old world flavors with new world ideas.

New England Style Dry Hard Cider draws on the traditions of locally made, on-farm produced, hard ciders common in New England with notes of flavors from old country itself. Balanced flavor with just a touch of old world charm result is a light, refreshing cider that will leave you wanting more.

Southern Sweet Tea Hard Cider reflects a slower pace of life with a balance of flavors no matter what you are doing, even if it is just sitting in a rocking chair on a shady front porch on a hot summer day. A gentle level of sweetness and a hint of rich slow-brewed tea that will both refresh your palette while keeping you tapping your toes in the dappled southern sunshine.

West Coast Chai Tea Hard Cider is truly a combination of flavors that wake up your senses. The flavor traditions of the East meet the imagination and dreams of the West. The result is a very unique and exquisite hard cider. A little spicy, a little sweet, chai spices combined with rich apple flavors has a rich, aromatic flavor that is instantly comforting.

Hopped Hard Cider is the best of both worlds, the light, crisp and refreshing flavor hard apple cider infused with the right amount Cascade hops. Perfect for those who love craft beer aromas but want something lighter, gluten-free, and apple-crisp.

Mint Julep Hard Cider is a delightful twist on tradition blending the refreshing flavors of mint and a touch of bourbon with our crisp apple cider. Sipping our Mint Julep Cider is refreshing on a sunny spring day whether you are watching the derby or relaxing with friends.

Apple Harvest Spice Hard Cider is sugar and spice, and everything nice. It is all the best in a glass, warm spices and a good amount of sweetness that is reminiscent of the best apple pie you ever had.

Meet the Baron

Baron Johann Rudolf de Steiguer was a Swiss nobleman born in Bern, Switzerland in 1778. Seeking new opportunities and a desire
to create a new Swiss colony, de Steiguer led a group of Swiss colonists, and his new wife, Magdalena, to the United States in 1819 and eventually settled in what is now Athens, Ohio. The descendants of the Baron and his followers continue to contribute to the rich legacy of the region still today.

Our winery now sits on the a portion of the same land that the
Baron settled on with his family. Naming our cider for the
Baron de Steiguer is our way of paying homage to Athens' rich history and those who followed their dreams and their heart's desire.
